The infamous Shutdown problem

Okay, this Win98SE computer has the world infamous shutdown problem, but... ive downloaded all the updates etc. and still have the problem. In msconfig (one of the files it says it updates) i still have no option to disable fast shutdown.

Any recomendations for further courses of action?

 

Maybe in bios in pc health, check to be sure it set at auto shut down when reachs at 85c not lower like 50c. 85c is fine.
I dont know what you mean in msconfig if theres fast auto shut down? Did you download some kind of software to help faster shutdown?

 

i mean the problem where you select shutdown from the turn off computer menu and it displays "windows is shutting down" and hangs there without turning off

 

I don't know why but I used to have the same problem until I started using a registry cleaner. I have no idea why this cured my problem but it worked for me. Maybe someone else can explain it.
