I always think there is something out there but there isn't. The internet is so boring. I hit the same half dozen sites to see if there's anthing new then I think of where else to go but I can't think of anywhere else.

I come here most of the time I'm on the internet.

The internet is full of crapp and way over rated.

I'm going to sleep now to dream of something better.

You're just not looking in the right places. Isn't there anything that you're interested in that you know nothing about? For example, Eric and I have been thinking about getting a honey bee hive for Bushnell in a year or two. I've had an absolute blast looking up info on that and reading about beekeeping. Of course, sometimes you need to do something besides being on the computer, so maybe that's it. In my opinion, it's a tool to be used to enhance our life. When life gets spent on the computer, it's bound to get old quick. We're just made for so much more than sitting in front of a monitor for hours at a time and nothing else. Don't just dream about something better, go out and DO something better. :)

Sitting next to an ocean of sparkling fresh water, with a tin cup, and complaining about thirst. :D

The whole world is at your fingertips, and you visit only the same 6 sites? Well, if you think you've used up the entire internet, go to the library and take out some books.

    Ever heard of Google?

    What interests you?

Methinks the internet isn't the problem. ;)

You know, Col. A, I find myself in the same situation. When I get on the net I tend to visit the same few sites over and over again and then check my email and then visit the sites again. I find the internet kinda boring too (this statement, however, is not a reflection of the fine and exciting people here on this board or the others I frequent, but rather is a reflection of the disconnect between what I do on the net and what image I have of the net in my head).

However, I do find the net extremely useful when I need information for something that interests me. In the end, I think it's important to gell the net's actual function in our own lives with the idea of the net (i.e. this constant party where anything goes and all that yadda-yadda). In trying to do this gelling, I try to see the net like a very big and limitless dictionary or encyclopedia, which is rather boring. I wish I could see the net like I imagine sf-gibsonesque characters see the net--an ocean of information connected to everything but not a part of anything where one could get lost and overwhelmed within pure information (maybe I need to learn how to code!).

But, like everyone else has said in this thread, it all depends on your interests, right? So, if you're interested in chat rooms and irc and group web-logs and such, then, yeah, maybe the net is a big party where anything goes. But, if you're not interested in that stuff, then it becomes something else.

Still with me, or have I bored you to tears! :)

The internet aint boring as such, just the habits we get ourselves into. I don't bother with the forums half as much as I used to, and frankly I don't miss them that much either.

*blush* Well gosh, thanks :) I think it's just that God made such an amazing world, I can't help but enjoy it and be thankful! (Well, most of the time at least - I still have my miserable, griping moments :D ) I've just found that the internet compliments our life so much. I have a question about something and the answer is right there at my fingertips. How amazing! What a treasure it's been in raising my kids. Kolya will ask me about something and I don't know the answer, so we sit down and look it up together. My kids think I know everything! (I've been soaking that up a bit [while I can], but I do tell them that it's not really true) ;)

You all make good points and your probably right about most of them. I was just really bored last night and couldn't find anything to entertain me on the internet. Thought I'd express my boredom at good old Major Geeks.

@ cindysnoopy - jarcher is right. You and eric seems like very optimistic and happy people. :)

A great stance to take on life :)

I'm not religious as such, but I never take any part of life for granted. I think its just too amazing for you to "gloss over" and just miss.

I like to keep some of the simple curiosity of a child. If I see somthing that I don't understand, there is nothing that can come between me and understanding it, along with what everyone else thinks about the subject :D

And with that, I'm going to phone my girlfriend because I love her. Somthing else I don't take for granted :)

the internet is boring... unless you need it. but havinf nothing else to do without it is even more boring. and the only reason life is that boring is because i HAVE no life. If i had a decent job, and money to burn, i'd be all over the world. I'd dtop in at goldy's house to say what up, and pop on through Europe, russia and asia... Africa looks interresting - but i hate hot. And india is gorgeous, but its just a little too close for comfort. but seriously, if i had the means, and the money, i'd get out of this chair and probably never sit back down.

Hey, you could come have afternoon tea with me and the Bucks crew :D

    Hehe, that would be funny.

The Internet is cool for that... talking to people on the other side of the world, making friends with them (in a different kind of way, admitadley). If it didn't exist, I wouldn't know all you great people out there! :D

No doubt, I'll be there ;)

If you land at about 1pm, we can have tea and scones or somthing. If its a particularly cold and rainy day, we could even have some hot crumpets! :D

Then I'll take you to Harrods to buy a biscuit (singular) and then go for a pee. Lol. Everyone HAS to do it, if you're going to be in my country for any ammount of time I'm not gunna have you moaning about having not been to Harrords to have a pee. lol.

Nah, I hate Harrords, its so, well, TACKY! And expensive, but thats not as bad as the "gold tap and washbasin" tackyness.

Anyway, yes, indeed, I expect you'd have quite a welcoming party ;)

I can tell you some cool places to go that arn't too touristy, so no worries there :)
