The Internet just slowed down for a couple of hours on JUST my PC

For the last two hours, I've been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for sites to load on my PC. Sometimes they'd load entirely at normal speed, sometimes they'd load entirely but take about a minute, sometimes they'd start loading and NEVER finish, and other times I wouldn't be able to access the Net at all. I assumed at first it was a problem with my connection, but when I checked on my iPad, everything was fine. So it was just my PC that was affected. It SEEMS to be back to normal now, but can anyone tell me what might have caused this, and how I might be able to avoid it happening again?

A strong candidate is a corrupt dns cache. Open an elevated command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns. If you need help with an elevated command prompt just ask.

Thanks. I do. I know how to open a command prompt, but what's an "elevated" command prompt?

Right click cmd.exe and click Run as Administrator. You need to do this even if your account is an Administrator account.

Thanks. Got the message, "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache." I'll let ya know if there are any more problems.
