    Greetings all,
I love the internet, but trying to weed out the good stuff from the not so good stuff can cause one to get a headache. :eek

I built a computer out of some parts I had for a friend this weekend. All went well, installed XP Pro (yes it's a legal copy) installed anti-virus software etc, etc.

I installed a Radeon (ATI) X850 Pro 256MB video card in this box and I thought, no problem in finding the driver for it on line. Yeah...right. :-D
You google for it and come up with countless sites. Some want you to fill out this and that, many want you to install some software that automagically finds all the drivers you need and will alert you when there are upgrades to the drivers. All sound really wonderful but I want the driver for THIS CARD and THIS CARD only. :banghead I know you have seen what I am talking about in your adventures in Google land. :-D
The card has a DVI output and my friends monitor has a DVI input so I would like to set him up using DVI but without the driver, that is not going to happen.

So, knowing the great people here at MG, I figured someone would recommend the best site where I can get the driver ONLY that I need for this card.

Thank you all ahead of time for your help.

    All the best,

    Ian

I would have rather edited my post then create a new reply. I don't want to look as if I am bumping.

I found this in the MG Downloads. ATI Catalyst Driver Has anyone used this and is it as good as the actual driver for the model in the title.

    Thanks,

    Ian

When I need to update drivers I usually go to the chip mfr's web page (in this case, www.ati.com).

The website lets you search by model/series (X850 Pro) and will let you download the correct driver(s) for your OS (just remember to specify if you're running 32-bit or 64-bit).

Drivers at a chip mfr's website (ATI, NVIDIA, Intel) are often more up-to-date than those at video card, motherboard or PC mfr's websites.

    Hope this helps. :)

I do appologize for taking so long to get on here and show my appreciation as some personal stuff came up that kept me away.

Thank you gman863 and iain.t for taking the time to point me in the right direction for the driver.

    All the best,

    Ian
