They are finding new ways of contacting possible victims.
I got this in the post during the week.
I am not sure how they got my address (i am not in the phone book) so i looked the advocate firm up on google and it all seemed legit i then sent an e-mail to the the address i found on google to ask if the letter had originated from their office and sure enough i got a reply (second pic) after i read it i can only assume they have set up a mailing address in spain.
Some of the things that ring bells are it was sent in plain english and not spanish or dutch (my home language) it also spoke of US dollars and not Euros and the website is in English not spanish.
So i sent a further e-mail declining the offer and all communication stopped immediately.

Thats a newish one I have not seen in a while, its weird how they get your actual address over these types of spam coming in emails (as they usually do these days)??

The website is a goodun, but for a Spanish law firm why is the site in English natively? doesn't ring true for me.

Yep David i am 100% sure it is a scam.
Just a small update to this I speak Spanish and just out of curiosity i sent an e-mail in Spanish to the e-mail address on the website but so far after 3 days i have not had any reply so either they don't read spanish or they have deleted me because i said earlier i was not interested.

There were just too many things that were not kosher about the whole thing for it to be believable.

I was just reading this morning how 2 Nigerians scammed an American woman out of $240.000.

Weird how a law firm doesnt reply in a native tounge! and it seems that scammers are now being re-enventive again in trying the old techniques of postal scamming over email as thats been really highlighted over the past few years.

I think its a scam too having looked over the site and the text it has, as to me it seems a template setup, in that its not too hard to get a domain and site and email addies.

Good thread Bill, in that its highlighting this method for users and readers of this site to keep a look out for.

    > hijack: Hey on a side note you be watching the Belgian GP this weekend?

Just going to settle down to watch qualifying, it should be a fun weekend as the weather forecast is for rain (that should suit Jensen)

Is it just my imagination or does it appear that the team are working against Jensen????

A few years back we got a mailed letter in Spanish from Spain promising us hundreds of thousands of Euro's if we would respond with personal information. Since our address is only known by Spanish Government (pension) it came over as very suspicious since it didn't come straight from them. Needless to say the letter went into the garbage. Should have scanned it and email it to that government department for investigation but didn't think of doing so at that time.

No I think so too, they have a lot invested in Lewis so sadly Jensen is going to loose out, but he is a fighter so will beat Lewis more than often.

There have been quite a few major security leaks recently with hackers gaining millions of customers/clients contact information which can obviously be sold on the black market.

That's the only way I can imagine they got both in the same place other than dodgy companies selling your info.

I read the letters. One would have to be pretty dim to believe that a practicing lawyer in Spain would need to contact a total stranger over the internet to be the beneficiary of anything, much less the amount shown in the letter. I guess people do fall for this crap .
    Amazing.

The lawyer did not contact me with the internet he did it via snail-mail, maybe to make it seem more realistic.
The moment i said i was not interested all communication stopped.
