The Sims 2: Access Violation

I have been having various problems with The Sims 2 over the past month after a complete reinstall of Windows XP.

The main problem that I cannot trace or track down is "Access Violations" and Custom Content not showing up or appearing and disappearing seemingly at random (one game session it's there, another it isn't) And I am also getting An Error message "This application has crashed, the application will now terminate" (I have attached an error log generated by the game in regard to this.

I have TS2, University, Nightlife and Open For Business, but neither the Holiday pack, nor Family fun pack, and I routinely close all background tasks that are not esential to game play.

System Specs:

CPU: AMD Semprom 3300+
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9250 128MB Graphics
Graphics Drivers: ati2dvag (6.14.10.6606)

 

You mentioned Custom Content, meaning youve already downloaded files.Correct?

Make sure you only download frm a secure source. Also, do any of the programs you downloaded use CEP(Color Enabled Package)...if so you may want to go to ModtheSims2 and see if you can find it.Most proggie writers use this when coloring or recoloring objects or clothes etc.. I recieved the same Error message when I didnt have CEP and I tried to run my custom content.

Thanks for replying, but yes, I do have the latest CEP, and all the patches and I only download from reputable sources, plus the stuff I make myself.

BTW Are you the same Username at N99 or MATY? I'm sure your name looks familiar....

 

So far when downloading I use the Q-Express Installer and everything is put where it belongs, but if your writing objects Im sure your installing in the correct places , srry I couldnt help but theres tons of ppl here that can.

lol, I dont think Im on those sites but I am at MTS2, 8DeadlySims,TSR under the same name.
