    Hi all,

My sound has decided to work every so often, then cuts out and wont work again until restart! This happened after I had to unplug the CPU completely in order to move it, and then put more RAM in.

The drivers are showing as fine, but i was wondering if anyone has any bright solutions?

    I appreciate any help :)

Is it a sound card or onboard sound? Any time you have problems with a computer after moving it, shut it off, unplug the power and take the side panel off and check your connections. Make sure all cards are plugged in properly and such. Also a good time to clean any dust in the heatsinks and in the case.

I am assuming this is a desktop, and by 'moving the CPU' you mean the case and computer, not just the CPU.

Yeah sorry I meant the tower (I wrongly always call it the CPU!)

I have checked all has not moved and double checked again, but to no avail!! I think its time it went out the ruddy window!!!

I will do the same again and have another check, but I am 99% sure all is fine :-(

You can always try sytem restore and see if it helps.

well I think it does have something to do with the bios setting! here is the story: -

In short, my bios resets whenever the power is turned completely off unplugged and moved etc. I then have to set it up again, for duel monitoring etc etc.

I have an old hard drive in that is 1/2 dead, but it is disabled and everything is run off my new hard drive. It appears for some reason since the last bios reset that the sound and video do not work correctly.

What happens is, for example you tube, you begin watching a video (sound working) and within about 10-15 seconds it cuts out and the video stops (despite being fully loaded!)

    Any ideas?

Also, in bios the RAM mhz will only let me put it to 200!!

If this is the case: "n short, my bios resets whenever the power is turned completely off unplugged and moved etc. I then have to set it up again, for duel monitoring etc etc."

You probably need a new battery for your BIOS. Watch type battery, looks like a coin, usually in the bottome right side of a desktop.

Replace the battery, and see what you get.
