so i restarted my laptop tonight after work, and had the same pop-up issue that Tim (from the forum) and i couldn't figure out was being caused by, and so i ended some processes, wrote down the names, restarted my comp, had the same isse again, and repeated the same thing, ended processes, only i narrowed them down each time i did this. and i came to a conclusion: ieuser.exe is my culprit here. i did some research, and this is a normal windows file appearantly, so im guessing that mine is currupt. so i'm wondering this - how do i remove the currupt ieuser.exe and replace it with a clean one that wont cause internet explorer to open an infinate amount of windows until i end the process?

Let's start by following the instructions in the below link and attaching the requested logs when you finish.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

The file in question "ieuser.exe" is a legit file, it controls security for IE. I understand you do not want to run all the scans again however if you're getting popups there is obviously something in your system causing it. It may or may not be related to that one file, only your logs will show that.

It's up to you but in order to proceed I will need all new logs. When there are malware infections present a reboot can change everything because it can mutate, rename itself, etc;.
