    Dear All,

I've just recently encountered a problem with Windows XP Pro the made me so mad  I resorted to the ultimate solution; Formating and Reinstalling Windows XP.

    The Problem:
When ever I right click on anything in my start menu or on a file anywhere on my computer, the whole thing freezes and then explorer.exe is terminated and restarts sometimes this is accompanied by a dr.watson error message. After spending yesterday virus, spyware and trojan scanning and coming up with nothing, I backed up, formated and reinstalled everything on my computer. I right clicked on a random icon in my start menu and like magic it gave me the menu of different things I could do. This morning however when I went to try to do the same thing, it all started happening again! Why? someone please tell me why?!

Another reason for problems with the right-click context menu is
that a third-party program (or programs) have put entries into this
shell extension that are incompatible. To troubleshoot this, get the
    free ShellExView program from:

    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

Disable all the non-MS right-click extensions using the program. Enable
them one at a time, testing after each. All troubleshooting must be
    done methodically.

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

Kniht you were right! I followed the link and read the content, downloaded and used ShellExView, I went threw the context menu handlers, and saw one by Dr.Divx; I know I shouldn't be using such outdated software but I had no idea it was causing all of this. I closed down and unistalled it then restarted and now it all works fine! Thanks again man. You have restored peace and order to the world.
