I am seeking some helpful advice, and am new to the site.

I have had some very nasty things posted about me on a website by a guy who is now in prison, 99% of which is totally untrue and was just his way of 'destroying my good character' as he put it.

He has housed the sites in Texas and is covered by the first amendment on free speech, and therefore they will not take down the sites. The UK police say it falls just outside the criminal laws of harassment and the libel approach through the civil courts is just too damn expensive.

It has been suggested that I just find a good hacker, but a) I don't know any, and b) that would of course be illegal.

I am here in the hope someone can assist me with some advice as his sites are now coming up top of the main search engines when my name is entered.

You may try contacting the search engines to see if they can assist in getting the hits removed or if you can get them off the front page of search hits. If he's in prison and presumably not able to add to those slanderous sites then they will become stale and won't be listed at the top much longer.
