The Vending Incident

At around 7:30 AM, the Pepsi vending machine in the break room at work malfunctioned. The cooling element in it stopped working, so instead of circulating cold air to keep the drinks nice and chilled, it started circulating hot air instead. Lots of heat on carbonated beverages gets messy pretty quickly, so the machine was turned off, unplugged, and a big sign saying "OUT OF ORDER" was posted on it.

So here we are, a computer company, which means pretty much every one of the 200+ employees in the building is a caffeine addict, and the Pepsi machine in the break room is not working. That's the one with the Mountain Dew. It's actually the only one that has any energy drinks in it at all...

Productivity and morale was at a record all-time low until mid-afternoon, when two representatives from the vending company finally arrived and plugged in the new machine. For obvious reasons, they were greeted as heroes.

 

Oh, that sounds like a nightmare Mimsy! :cry I am so glad you got a new machine! To be without The Dew is hard to picture! :-D

 

I was perplexed when you mentioned Mountain Dew and caffeine at the same time.:confused I have since found out that in Canada, only cola drinks are allowed to have added caffeine. So, if anyone is considering a vacation up here, stock up!:-D

 

you could have resorted to popping aspirin :-D

 

Especially the Canadian variety. While we in the states might have you in the caffeine area, Canada definitely has the booze and the meds. Nothing beats a Canadian bottle of

What is remarkable is that the Big 10 is actually good tasting compared to your Colt 45 which was disgusting, to the point that I only had one sip and tossed the rest of the 1.18L bottle.uke However, you guys have a very good choice and price for booze since you don't pay the same taxes as we do.

I personally don't drink these as one Big Ten can put you under the table, unlike wine of the same strength. :eek

As to your comment about meds, ours are the same as yours. The only reason they might seem cheaper is we pay extra taxes, which it seems that ya''l are afraid of paying for some reason. Anyways, I better stop there before I hijack this thread right into hot button forum!:-D

I'll stop too. Sorry I stepped out of line.. I think your Tylenol at least has WAY more codeine than ours. I hit my head in Canada once and bummed some Tylenol of a lady in the Hotel parking garage... WOW...

I guess it could also have been that I heard they were stronger and had it in my head, you know?

 

The new vending machine is a lot more shiny and cool-looking than the old one. Quite an upgrade

 

Next week Dew will be 25 cents more also!

DO without the DEW:eek I would have found some Ice a glass and poured that warm DEW into that glass full of ice. "TADA" ice cold DEW. Yep that's what I would do. No DEW indeed.

 

Yeah, I know the feeling.rolleyes Our beer fridge at work was still running but not cooling. I fixed it by unplugging it for a couple of hours. It worked great after that. My co-workers were so impressed they forced me to stay late so they could buy me a beer. Sometimes I amaze myself.:neener

 

Being a florist for 25 plus years I don't recall ever working at a shop where there wasn't a bottle or few of beer or wine in the cooler and they weren't all for gift baskets.
Come to think of it even the floral distributors always had something in their huge warehouse size coolers.
I miss work :-D

 

A couple of my coworkers got together, made a run too the gas station with a convenience store, that is only 5 minutes away, and returned with two 12-packs of Mountain Dew.
