I'm beginning to become quite aggravated with AOL!! I've NEVER had it and NEVER will!!

However...I've had a couple of customers that were exploited by AOL sometime back when they were completely computer illiterate, and have been paying 30.00 dollars a month for a couple of years now!! So now that they have learned a little about computers and the internet...they have taken my word and switched over to SBC DSL which offers high speed for 15.00 dollars a month!! HELLO...

So now they call to cancell their AOL...and it takes an act of congress to get the customer service rep to SHUT UP and listen to the fact that you DO NOT WANT AOL ANYMORE!!!! You literally have to get rude with them!!!! So then you hear..."Well you should try AOL for broadband".......WHY IN THE HELL would I pay for my internet service, AND pay 40.00 dollars more a month on top of that so I can get this AOL for broadband that they apparently think you can't live without!!!! GEEZ, give me a break...do they think I'm that stupid!!!??

I'm beginning to think that cyberspace would be alot better off if AOL would just fall off the face of the planet!!!!!

Is it me...or am I missing something here about aol!!!??? Sometimes when I think about it...I just get so mad I want to cry (okay maybe not cry, that's not very manly of me) but you just want to grab them by the shoulders and shake the living crap out of them (i'm speaking of the aol customer service person)!!!!!

If there is any aol users here...please do not take offense to this...that was not my intentions!!!! I just can't seem to grasp the whole concept!!!!

    *okay...I feel better now!!!!*

No, I'm pretty certain that AOL has pissed off a good few knowlegable folk till now. What pisses me off more is how many people blindly accept them.

It cracks me up that they think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread...and IMO...all they do is exploit those that don't know any better!!!!!

you'll have to excuse my rather big dreams in life!!!!LOL

Bear in mind these are the same people that wander around the shopping malls looking for the newest and greatest fads. In addition if services do not pander to the "I'm bubbly, and stupid" mentality these folks won't use them.

"Like, do I like click the little button, or like click the little button?"

SBC is $14.95 for the first year only. Then they hike the fees. Also SBC has a bad rep- ask AbbySue about the modem she had that was always disconnecting her.

AOL on the other hand is what I refer to as "the virus." When my Dell was new, I got 12 mos free. I did the beta area, and they would NEVER fix many problems. I did get advance copies and had a paper showing all 14 directories it installs into.

I left owing them for a month, and was very unhappy about that. I have GAIM for IM and will not allow AOL disks in my site. Another geek here sent me some CD's and used the Virus box- I cringed at the site of it!

Now you have me all wound up at the thought of The Virus........

Sorry to hear about Abby, but...myself and a handfull of other people I know directly...have had it for a couple of years and haven't had ANY problems!!!! Then again...I guess if you deal with any kind of major corporation of some sort...you are going to have some unhappy people!!! I mean...Look at all the people that are just tickled pink with AOL, right??? They have to be, to continue to pay 30 or more dollars a month for DIAL UP!!!! LOL

As far as the deal...I signed up two years ago, with a one year contract, and when that was due...all I had to do was sign another year contract, and I continued to get the same great price!!!!

That being said....I still think ANYTHING is better than AOL!!!!!

I remember there was a ISP on the Hawaii islands and they had on the FAQ that if your only experience was AOL don't bother to call them......

They had a huge increase in business.......

I spent most of tonight setup with a Linux box for my daughter. IT was Free at a yardsale and has USB, sound and now CD burner.

I can't imagine how badly a 200MMX Pentium choked Win95 with only 32 meg memory.... It must have belonged to an Virus user!

    :)
