Ohhh you need to be in the UK Kodo.... they want to know your shoe size and what flavour jello you like as well as the basics! our road signs are neat, for normal drivers they mean one thing for taxi drivers another ;)

And of course for taxi drivers all normal rules of the road become null and void. :D :D

Congratulations mcadam. Hertfordshire is now a potentially more dangerous place :p

I passed mine last week for my Oregon driver's license too :D I have my road test on Friday  I can only drive on my UK license until the end of January so I need to get this one under my belt!

I haven't told my husband anything yet. I'm hoping I can suprise him on Friday. he's always asking me to show people here my unusual pink Euro license, so I'm looking forward to just drawing out my Oregon one and showing that instead and watch the expression on his face :D

I have a question, that concerns driving in the UK…..when I was last there in 1976, just a few years ago………the stop lights were a little different, than here in the states….in the UK it was, traffic lights would start with red, then yellow, and then green, then back to yellow, and back to red……..here in the US it’s, red, green, then yellow, and back to red…..in other words……while driving in the US, and your lane has a green light, it changes to yellow to let you know that the red light is about to appear, you sit waiting at the red light, for it to change to green….

……..when I was in the UK, you would be driving it would change to yellow, to let you know the red light was next, the difference was after the red light, yellow light would light up for a couple of seconds, and then green……..

…..and I just wondered if it was still that way, today after 30 years

Here is the official highway code for UK: http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/signs01.htm Looks like you can test yourself there.

    The usual light sequence is:

    Red
    Red and Amber
    Green
    Amber
    Red

In short wobbles, yes it is. The yellow light comes after the red one to let you know you need to get ready to drive off from the lights as the green light is coming next :)

Now I'm in the US I wait and wait for that yellow light lol.....it never comes and Randy sits there and states "It ain't gonna get any greener babe!"

    Congrats there, McA! ;)

Yep, the driving test in the U.K. and most of Europe is a bit more involved than the U.S. or Australia.

The traffic light sequence here is: Green=>amber (5 secs.)=>red. Red=>green. The amber is a "prepare to stop" signal. Except for some Neanderthal types that think amber means plant the foot on the gas.
