When trying to install an HP Softpack to update my BiOS on my HP Pavillion notebook (Vista 32-bit/SP1) I receive the following error:

There is no script engine for file extension ".vbe".

I can only choose "OK". When selected I receive another error message:

Error to execute Script file. Run again later!

I can then choose "OK" and I am kicked out of the install.

Are my file extensions screwed up or could it possibly be something else.

This is a Visual Basic Encoded file and I'm seeing that Windows will run it if CScript or WScript is installed.
I assume you downloaded this HP Softpack from the HP site. If I were you, I'd contact HP (by email) and ask what you need to do to get this BIOS update to execute.

No luck with HP. They were less than satisfactory to work with. Anyone else have any ideas?
