Did the read and run me, except that combofix doesnt seem to be available anywhere.

I had a crazy popup session with a fake malware remover, and then trend micro said I had a trojan called daruso.a. After running the read me, I no longer am getting the popups, but my internet connection seems to be dead. Booting to safemode also causes a fatal error and a bluescreen crash. Here are my logfiles

Just click on link in the READ & RUN ME and download it to your Desktop. Then follow all of the instructions for running it and getting a log. We need this log. If you do not have an internet connection have you tried doing what was suggested in the below link which was given in the READ & RUN ME:

    SUPERAntiSpyware - running & getting a log

See towards the end about a broken internet connection.

Download ComboFix using another PC if necessary and then copy to this PC.

Okay I see the reason for your broken internet connection. You have infected copies of the ndis.sys file in two locations that need to be overwritten with valid copies.

You need to copy this file: C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\ndis.sys

into the below two folders overwriting the bad copies in these folders:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

Thanks for the response! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was out of town. I was able to download and run combofix. I have attatched the logfile. Before doingso however, I attempted to copy the file that you mentioned. The system told me that access was denied. I still have no internet connection. Do I need to generate new logs from the other cleaners as well?

We will use ComboFix to replace the infected files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I ran the script and attatched both the logfiles. My internet connection is still broken though.

Please describe exactly what this means. What are you trying and what is happening exactly?

    Also answer/do the below
    • does Windows Device Manager show any problems on your Network Interface
    • what browser are you using and have you tried more than one
    • can you browse using IP addresses rather than a URL. Example, use http://64.233.161.104 instead of http://www.google.com
    • can you ping your router (assuming you have a router or cable/dsl modem). You do this from a command prompt window by using ping 192.168.1.1 or whatever the IP address of your router is.
    • from a command prompt window, enter ipconfig /all > c:\ipcfg.txt
    • There is a space after ipconfig and before and after the >
    • Now attach the C:\ipcfg.txt file to your next message
    • Does disabling your TrendMicro Firewall have any effect?

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Not sure if this is related to the previous issue, but I am experiencing a new problem.

Recently I was trying to update music on my ipod when my computer shut down windows and displayed the blue screen that tells you to shut off the machine. Now everytime I try to start it up again it goes to that screen. I tried booting to safemode and using a system restore point which seemed like it was going to work, but during the restore process, the blue screen of death popped up again. Now I can't access safe mode either. Can you help me? I could simply reformat, but there is data on the machine that I want.
