Does it matter that Root Repeal detected hidden files? I was having internet connection problems on my desktop (XP Home 5.1 SP3) over the last 10 days - LSP i386p error messages that wouldn't resolve by following Diagnostic's directions. The laptop was working fine. I have no idea what I may have done to cause the problem...System Restore reinstated connectivity temporarily, then the problem would return. I tried downloading all your recommended utilities on the laptop then transferring across on a clean USB, but SuperAntiSpyware didn't even complete it's download from any of the sites and none of the files would install on the desktop, various error messages would appear and I then re-downloaded the utilities to the USB from a work computer and followed all your Read Me instructions (such a great guide!!!). I ran SuperAntiSpyware and it quarantined and removed a few files. I then decided to uninstall Cybersitter v.8 rather than just have it set to inactive. It had been acting suspiciously recently...I know they've now shifted to a subscription service, but this older version wasn't filtering properly on the desktop - although working fine on the laptop with exactly the same setup. I checked the internet connection at this point and it was restored - either from SAS or the Cybersitter uninstall. I could then update the definitions on SAS, so I ran it again but it didn't pick up anything on this second scan. All the other utilities now installed fine . I decided to screen the lap top (XP Pro 5.1 SP2) while I was at it. Both machines had files that were picked up, quarantined and removed during the process. Before thinking 'I'm out of the woods,' and do the System Restore toggle, I wanted to check whether the hidden files picked up (but not removed?) by Root Repeal need to be dealt with in any way. I'm a TOTAL amateur. I'll attach the logs for each machine just in case you needed them in order to answer my question. I've re-set the Windows Firewall. I'm guessing it's fine to re-set the hidden files when this is all over but not necessary? Is there anything else? Do I need to uninstall any of the utilities? Thanks again for providing such a great site.
