I had a quick try of 2 iPad2's yesterday at our best local computer store.
Nice machines. I'd like to spend more time trying one out.

AUD$896 for the high end model with 64 gigs, 3G, WiFi, etc.
I will have to check out various shopping sites (in USA and OZ) for a better price. :) Any suggestions re price?

I've struggled to see the point of an iPad, I have an iPhone and iPod Touch and the iPad is a bigger version of both and while may allow a 3G sim into the iPad over the iPod Touch, its not grabbing me and I'm a techophile and get all gadgets on release.

Damn good bit of marketing and positioning the iPad for those that like the latest fashion accessories for tech minded folk and not, but it does nothing the iPhone cannot do, ok it does it bigger but wooooop! not a great addition to the tech in your home unless you have $$$ so waste, I decided on a netbook instead as it does Win7, and Office, plus all the apps you'll ever need, plus media and not linked to that PITA iTunes app that fudges up a lot on updates.

iPad, great for posing but not great for real world usage IMHO.

ps. I think the iPhone is the best smartphone for new users in the world (would recommend it to any new user to smartphones and do), even though I prefer the Windows 7 Mobile phone software, less apps for now but gaining, but apps are not everything, usability is king.

Thanks again, DavidGP for pointing out your experiences. and thoughts.
I will look at netbooks more seriously, but probably won't buy either as they are on my-nice-to-have-but-don't-really-need-them list. ;)

Holding off buying an iPad2 might be a good idea.
