Hi, Im thinking of getting a new pc this week. There is one I have my eyes on but I cant seem to find the proper specifications for it. I was hoping one of you guys could help?

    This is the one:-
    http://www.brighthouse.info/product...omputers/display-product-large.asp?id=WCACEP4
    • I wanted to find out is this proccessor a core2duo? and what mhz it will be?
    • Also it says shared graphics, but not which kind of graphics, I want to play games like WoW and need to know how much memory the graphics will share and if they are capable of 3d gaming?
    • Finally how good will this PC be for upgrading? Will I be able to throw in a new graphics card in the future? Will it take much more memory?
Depending on the answers to these questions I may consider getting this one (and a few more questions!):-

    • I want to know also what mhz will this proccessor be?
    • Is the graphics card any good for 3d gaming? How much memory is on the graphics card?
    • And again, how good will this PC be for upgrading? Will I be able to throw in a new graphics card in the future? Will it take much more memory?
The reason I am asking here is that the shop I will be buying from do not have a clue about computers, and you guys do! And I know the prices are scandalous but its on credit! And Its the only place that will give me credit!

Links to sites with full specs will be great if you cant give me an answer directly. Ive looked on Acers site but the specs are not too clever or detailed there either.

    Thanks ;)

Without knowing the model number, I can only answer some questions on the first.

    1. Its not core duo, its a pentium 4 @3.2ghz.
    2. Shared graphics are variable, usually. It can go from 32mb to 256mb, depending on model.
    3. Upgradability is almost certainly grim. It may have the appropriate PCIe slot, but will the power supply handle it? Thats why we need the model number.

Second PC runs at 2.13ghz. I dont' know much about the video card, except the pro version is on par with the Nvidia 7600gs. Consider the SE version to be quite a bit less than that. Once again with upgrading, we need to know what the model number is, too see what the PSU specs are.

Thanks for the quick reply. Heres the 2 PC model numbers, and all that the site says about them:-

    Acer P4 Family Desktop

    • Intel Dual Core P4 641 Processor
    • 160gb Hard Drive Memory
    • 1gb RAM
    • Windows VISTA Premium
    • DVDRW
    • Shared Graphics
    Acer Aspire T671
    • Core 2 Duo E6400 processor
    • 320gb Hard Drive Memory
    • 2gb RAM
    • ATI X1650 SE Graphics Card
    • Windows VISTA Premium
    • TV Tuner with Remote
    • Speakers
    • 9 in 1 Card Reader
Obviously the second one is a hell of a lot better, but its also an extra few hundred pounds! If the first does what I want to straight out of the box I will get that and upgrade it if and when I need to.

    Thanks ;)

Well, the shop wouldnt give me a PC as they wanted an extra £500 for insurance!

But I have come to other arrangements and ended up with this:-

    http://www.littlewoods.com/rf/navigation/product.do?categoryId=44467&spreadId=162730&linkId=2213261

It will be here sometime next week methinks.

The graphics situation is grim, but I was told I can throw in a good 3d card and disable the integrated graphics.

Also I intend to throw in another GB of RAM.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 and how good it is? Also where can I goto compare it and what mhz is it?

    Thanks ;)

The E4300s are the newer released Intel Core2Duos, they have a lower clock rate than the E6xxx range but still fair very well against the old Pentium Ds and others

Looks nice tho wayne, would like to be able to find some hard specs on this tho, the IQon site has nothing ( or I didnt look properly ) to double check upgradability as I like to see it in black and white.

You have full specs list Wayne on it?

Cool Halo thanks for that. I looked about a bit before also and noticed these can be overclocked by 100% fairly easily. Maybee in a few weeks I might push the CPU a little more eh? Not that much, but maybe to 3ghz or just under! rolleyes

I dont thats the thing thats done my head in a bit. I did a load of searching around before and the best thing I could come up with is the link below on the iQon website.
    http://www.iqon.ie/apps/pdt_details.jsp?pid=260&mdiv=1&div=21&cat=0&subcat=0

However I think the ones in littlewoods are modified. Noticably the case is different and
you get a 19" monitor on the iqon site.

There were 4 slightly different at littlewoods. The first is the one I chose at £599 as it will be cheaper to buy and upgrade myself I think.

The second was £699 and said the same thing except it had a 17" monitor! Both these two said DX9 compatible graphics, Im unsure if its going to be a low spec gfx card or integrated? Either way ill be buying a new one as I want a decent 256k one!

What I think from this is mine will be very similar specs to the one i linked at iQon, but without the 256MB nVidia 7300GS Graphics as the two most expensive ones actually say they have this and mine dosent. Its easy enough to buy a card tho eh? And it will work out cheaper I reckon.:(
