This Could Save Your Life!!

Tires, we all buy new tires at one time or another, but when we shell out our hard earned money, are we really getting 'new' tires, or an accident waiting to happen? http://abcnews.go.com/US/MostPopular If you go to this site, you'll see the heading 'Most Viewed Videos,' and under that the video entitled 'Aged Tires: A Driving Hazard.'

Actually, I found this video rather unsettling. We all want our families to be safe, but this is one hazard that never even crossed my mind. One things for sure, the next time I buy 'new' tires, I WILL check the codes!! Opinions?

 

I just got new tires, they were made last year acording to the code. My old ones were made back in the '90s. :-D

It is good to know, especially for tires that are discounted.

As for that 'freebie' from PepBoys, I think I'd be inclined to check the code on ALL of them!!

Personally, I found that article to be quite interesting, because how many people would even think to look for a code on their new tires? Okay, so I may have been a little overly dramatic on the title of this thread, but I take this kind of stuff seriously and, who knows, it could! I'll be needing new tires for my wife's Pacifica soon and, believe it or not, I WILL check the codes on each of the tires I put on her car. That may aggravate the salesmen a bit, but in the general scheme of things....WHO CARES!!!

 

ill be getting some new tires for my summer wheels. ill be checking the date on them for sure. might as well if im spending $300 for each tire...

 

Yep Stubby, I got my money's worth out of them. but they were old as heck when I bought them 'new'. Perfect example of why you should check the code!
