A mum in Queensland was about to put her baby daughter back in her cot to finish her afternoon nap when she noticed her daughter was very unsettled. She then noticed the Brown snake in her baby's bed when she was putting her back in the cot. Crikey!!!:eek::eek:
Now she is thinking her baby was unsettled because maybe the snake was previously in the cot :eek::eek:
Check the picture in the article where the snake has slithered out of the cot and is going around the chest of drawers. The baby was asleep in the cot only an hour or so before the discovery and became unsettled :eek::eek:

Brown snakes are one of the most venomous snakes in the world and although we have antivenom in Australia, a baby might not live long enough to get to a hospital for the injection and the followup intensive care treatment during recovery. Brown snake venom causes your blood to thin and cardiac arrest. According to the article Brown snakes are responsible for 60% of fatal snake bites in Australia

This was a very lucky escape for the baby:)

They go okay in water but only go in by choice if it is hot weather and usually to hunt water rats........so if it is cold they are sluggish and curl up somewhere.......over here it is not really cold very often especially in the northern states ;)
If your water is cold and the weather is cold then you are pretty safe from most snakes (except sea snakes) :)

Two headed snakes show up in our news from time to time but they rarely become adults.......we have a lot of snakes here in Australia (most are venomous) so double headed snakes may be a bit more common here :)

I am sure this is fake news.

Still shot photos of snakes can be faked pretty easy.

    What a crock of s#*t wile :p
Well I saw the video on morning TV showing the snake catcher grabbing the live snake from the room and the interview with the mother........so if it is fake news then they went to a lot of trouble
Believe it or not stuff like this happens fairly often here in Australia but usually it is deadly spiders or like yesterday another shark attack on a surfer or up north, crocodiles attacking another American or Asian tourist who didn't obey the signs and keep out of the water;)

While people do keep snakes as pets, they don't usually choose the world's second-most venomous land snake.

The Brown snake is the second most venomous snake in the world and these are usually only kept in zoos because they are aggressive and very dangerous and these places would know if one went missing.
To keep any reptile in Australia you need a special licence and there are several grades depending on what you will be keeping. The most popular family of snakes kept as pets are the non venomous pythons of which there are many varieties. One of the popular venomous snakes kept as pets are Red Bellied Black snakes and although venomous and their venom can kill, their bite is rarely fatal to humans so they are classed as not very dangerous. Red Bellied Black snakes are very common in urban coastal areas as well as forest areas right down the eastern coast of Australia.

Most people with reptile licences keep lizards which can include crocodiles if you have the appropriate licence. Over here we have many lizards that give a really nasty bite and the bacteria in their mouth often causes skin withering infections that are slow to respond to antibiotics. Some of our lizards grow to 3 or 4 metres long and salt water crocodiles can grow to 7 metres long although they not often seen bigger than 5 metres as years ago they were hunted almost to extinction for their leather and although now they are a protected species, there are very few really old crocodiles still alive.

Australia has over 140 species of land snake - and 32 species of sea snakes have been recorded in its waters-. Of these over 100 species are venomous and 30 are highly venomous.
Twelve snakes I have personally killed with either a long handled shovel or an axe are:- four Copperheads and six Tiger snakes and two Black snakes. All of these snakes were in the back yard of several places I have lived. My mum one time had to call a snake catcher to grab several Brown snakes that had made their way into her laundry inside the house.
FYI I never kill snakes when I am camping or walking in the bush and I only kill them in my yard if they are dangerous to the kids or my dog.

When I was a kid we kept several species of lizards as pets. We had Bearded Dragon lizards, Blue Tongue lizards, Shingle Back lizards and some Gecko lizards. The guy across the road was a few years older (about 19) and he had several snakes as well as some lizards. Most of his snakes were different types of Python although he did have a baby Copperhead he caught in his backyard but he gave that up when it was about 2 years old as it was getting to be a size considered dangerous.

Hmmm....Inland Taipan is the most toxic snake in the world and has a very fast strike and the Black Mamba is the fastest snake in the world and also very toxic and for bonus points it has a huge amount of venom (up to 400ml).....best to give both of them a wide berth

Interesting battle between the two snakes. Over here we have a highly poisonous spider called the Funnel Web spider and their fangs can bite though a thumbnail so it was no surprise a couple of years ago when a Funnel Web spider killed a 2 metre Brown snake. I couldn't find the Funnel Web article but another really common spider here is the Red Back spider (related to the Black Widow spider) and here is one killing a juvenile Brown snake (video slow to load)

Here is some info on the Funnel Web spider which is common in New South Wales and Queensland

The Golden lance-head is from what i hear is a highly venomous pit viper.Very few are found in the states. The real location is called snake island near Brazil.Only limited access is granted to this island. The last person that stayed on this island was a light house keeper.Has not been occupied by a human since the light house keeper left in terror.

    True story.

The only people that have been to this island mainly is researcher's.From what i hear the the Brazilian government banned people from going to snake island.

This island use to be used by pirates. They marooned people here with one shot and pistol.Or get bitten by a snake to due them in.

Finding this in your home hee better run.
