Well, you asked for a rant, I got one for you. Not at you BCGray!

And before I start my rant, yes some of this I have posted, seen posted, heard from comedians. I do not claim to make all of it up on my own, it is just in my head, and BCGray asked, so here goes.

Stupid people, warning labels, and evolution.

I hate stupid people. Pure and simple. Now let's not confuse the ignorant with the stupid. And ignorant person is someone with no knowledge of something. I am ignorant about setting up a server, but I can build a PC. Heck I am pretty ignorant about heart transplants also.

Now let's take the stupid person. They are the reason we have warning labels on fireworks, cig lighters, and beer cans. Yeah, the average person should know the following at at least the age of 13: Fireworks blow up, cig lighters make a flame, and beer makes you drunk. Why do we need warning labels on all this stuff?

I mean really, if you are so stupid you drink a lot of beer, get a lighter and some fireworks, and blow your arm off, I call it evolution. Did Bubba read the warning labels? Do they serve a purpose? About a year ago, a local redneck lost his arm using a pipe bomb for fishing. Stupid.

Now in my opinion, warning labels on chemicals and drugs are a good thing. Mixing bleach and amonia is a bad thing. Mixing some drugs with others can kill you, warning labels can be handy.

But have you ever really looked around at all the warning labels? Let's jump in a Mercedes Benzs ML 320 with GPS. It takes a few secs to come up, but it actually tells you not to be distracted by the display. Dude, you are driving a vehicle, not getting a man on the moon, drive the freaking car! I think there is a windshield somewhere in that thing to look out of...

Now I know the labels are there to protect the companies from stupid lawsuits. Heck, I was ready to sue my neighbors for violating a fire burning law, and just being stupid. And I would have won whether I won or lost in the court. Harrasment suits are common.

I say we take the labels off the obvious stuff, and let evolution take over without the few survivors filling law suits. You know, thin the herd a bit. The Darwin Awards site is funny to me. http://www.darwinawards.com/stupid/stupid1999-09.html

Hey Fred G you hit the proverbial nail on the head again Bro, and how about those dang "People Proof" caps on any and all containers, or better yet for at least this "Old Fart" the Tiny print on any form of medication.

Glad you enjoyed it BCGray. I forgot about the 'child proof' stuff. Heck, my parents used to get me to open them! And I have to say, make the safety/drug interaction label bigger than the one on the fireworks.

Oh I'm to "Old" to Rant Fred, I just mumble to myself a lot, like how come the higher you go in any bureaucracy; Government or Corporate the "Dumber" they get, yet the "Smarter" they think they are..........And how come when you work for the Government, every one else becomes "They" except you..................And stop the Planet, but when did "We" all become little children, and the Government became our "Parents", because "They" always say its for our own good, Dang it I do not even remember asking them to help.......................... And what's up with this "Zero Tolerence" Thingy, I know what that means when I machine something.......The dang thing won't fit.....................Okay Fred you got me started, what about the fact that it now takes you longer to go through the airport, than it does to fly somewhere:mad :mad :guns :banghead

 

You are never too old to Rant BC! Just get a few of those mumbles down, tie them together and go for it. I have enjoyed your posts for a while. I have been posting a lot lately, but lurked for a while first. And I won't even hold the fact that you are Canadian against you!

You'd better not Fred G or us Canadians/Canucks will pee in your drinking waterLOL , or even worse will send some snow down to you in Louisiana, that will cure your "Fire" problem.............heck you would then be able to chuck snowballs at your neighbour "Bubba" when his Bar-B-Q fire gets out of control. roflmao roflmao

This site looks interesting and funny. Loved the rant, I thoroughly agree.

 

At work there is a sign above the hot water tap saying, 'WARNING. This water may get hot and burn.'

What about when you buy something that is packaged in a plastic bag? Some of them have warnings on them - If you put this over your head you may smother - or words to that effect! Huh?

 

I like the warnings on 5 gallon buckets. Caution, drowning hazard. If you are a parent, be one, and watch your dang kid. Kids will not read that, and a kid drowning, well not funny.

BUT, if an adult sticks their head in a 5 gallon bucket of water and drowns, I say good riddance.
