But where it says that you have been thanked in so many posts, where do you see who thanked you, what post, etc?

God i feel dumb asking this.

I only check the thanks when I get more than one after posting in the tech. forums as I want to know what got people interested enough to push the button.

We should have a thumbs down option too for ...... well! ;)

Dont think I noticed the cound on mine, similar to postcount, I wouldnt take much stock in thanks as it could be for just saying hello, to a very detailed tech post, its quality not quantity :)

    EDIT: Just noticed count :)

Exactly! I was kind of sad seeing the +/- option disappear but then no one ever used it, even when I was 'bang on' in the first try.:( Oh well, it's fine by me though I will say that there's only so many social 'thank you's' that will skew ones tech 'thanks' stats significantly upwards for the long-timers here.

I mean how many thanks can folks post for BDays or some such? Perhaps someone here, who has tons of time available, can create a DB or better yet, someone can write a vBscript to pull and aggregate where someone's thanks came from.;) I know about where I stand in the stats and without trolling through the DB.:major

BTW, writing a script was just a joke. I'm not that anal!:-D

Augie you are freakily on my wavelenght today! that +/- was good I felt as some posts/threads (one in particular) are marked up because of the poster over the content so artificially inflated (like bankers bonuses), but "thanks" is easier to press as its a larger button and kinda sparkly.. so glitz wins.

Augie, without stroking your ego (so put that whiskey down, no celebrating yet!) your posts are well thought out, with a mix in tech and fun* areas (*aka kindergarten as I coin them).

When I first came here I never noticed the thanks button until one on of my posts I seen the "blah blah says thank you for this useful post" It was on a tech question I answered. I didn't know if it was new or not and thought to myself that it would end up like so many other forums and be like the "rep points." In my opinion some people take the rep points way to serious and start threads begging for them and that in turns makes people give them negative points...

I hope then never get turned on here.

Absolutely right, thats the same as posting for postings sake to gain a higher postcount, getting to Majorgeek rating is not a feather in your cap as most post could mean jack over being a geeky post in say tech (what this forum is about), maybe we need a rating like "lounge lizard" or "Majorgeeks greeter"

Yeah the rating of threads and the +/- did help (where they used at intended... likely not, the usual vote for any old dross that a member you like posted will gain +'s) with this but now gone, the rating system I dont know on, may just be my account that doesnt have that option now, wonder why! ;):-D
