thought it was malware or redirect

Originally lost access to my google page, which I thought was because I had been stubborn and wanted to continue using a version they wanted me to update. So I gave in and tried to load google chrome. This just made matters worse, so I uninstalled it. Thought I had a reidirect prob, so I ran the fixes for that and have the logs. The TDSSKiller gave me error message "tool failure- must be first run without postboot".
I also did the malware read and run and have those logs.
I am lost and have included my logs.
What you guys do is amazing and I am so very thankful you are here. If there is any indication as to what has caused my problem, please school me, as I really do try to surf safely.
Many wishes for a Happy New Year to all your awesome staff!!

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these 2 detections:

    • [Services][ROGUE ST] HKLM\[...]\ControlSet001\Services\5689 (C:\DOCUME~1\Doug\LOCALS~1\Temp\5689.sys) -> FOUND
    • [Services][ROGUE ST] HKLM\[...]\ControlSet002\Services\5689 (C:\DOCUME~1\Doug\LOCALS~1\Temp\5689.sys) -> FOUND

and the same for items on files/folder tab please

    • [ZeroAccess][FILE] @ : C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-18\$b89885ae4af695800b18177c8a3add7d\@ --> FOUND
    • [ZeroAccess][FILE] @ : C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-2000478354-436374069-1060284298-1003\$b89885ae4af695800b18177c8a3add7d\@ --> FOUND

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

Rerun Hitman and have it delete Potential Unwanted Programs

Now rerun RogueKiller, just a scan and attach new log.

Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Hi there...I like to consider myself computer literate, but when I see you guys in action...I got nothin'. Amazing. Thank so much- really!

RogueKiller did not have check boxes in the file tab, but it looks like it deleted what it found.
HitMan says license to repair is expired, it found 4 threats did it classified as ignore.
    Ran MGbat without issue.
    All logs are attached.

Still can't get to my google page, but looked around a little and, I say hesitantly, that things look okaybut I don't think were done:(

    What do you think?

Actually not running well. Still can't get to google via firefox or ie. I had followed the redirect instructions before doing the read and run me first, because I thought it was redirect. Was it also not malware?
I didn't look at the logs- are they clean?

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.
    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Repair Windows Firewall
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Repair Windows Updates
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup
    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

After reboot, check to see if your firewall is working.
    Is Google ok now?

  16. RollinWithIt

    RollinWithIt Private E-2

Firewall is working...no google, though:( If I type in the website for google, it just hangs until I get the "cannot connect to website" message. If I type in www.majorgeeks.com it goes to the website and all that loads is just the green background of the page. I have a link in my favorites to the Malware Forum that works, though and then I navigate from there. I can type in the gmail addy and get to my mail, I can type in FB.com and get there, same with yahoo and a couple of television websites I frequent. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what works and what doesn't... I couldn't get to the tweaking site, either- had to dnload from a different site. This is weird, right?
Again, I have to ask how the logs look, or if there is any indicator as to what I may have done to get where I am?
I appreciate your patience and your help; thank you so much!

Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O20 - AppInit_DLLs: c:\progra~1\wi371a~1\datamngr\datamngr.dll c:\progra~1\wi371a~1\datamngr\iebho.dll
    • O20 - Winlogon Notify: IUNSKw32 - IUNSKw32.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

OTM by OldTimer - Version 3.1.21.0 log created on 01062013_162348

I have a windows messenger in my toolbar that I never had before.
OTM told me my recycle bin was corrupt but I did not clean it because it wasn't in my instructions.
I have some kind of warning box that comes up at shut down, but it flashes so quickly, I cannot read it.
Tried google and major geeks and they still hang. Bing works fwiw...

    Awaiting your instructions!

Download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

  26. Kestrel13!

Kestrel13! Super Malware Fighter - Major Dilemma Staff Member

    Yes, all is good. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Press and hold the Windows key http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/Windows_Logo_key.gif and then press the letter R on your keyboard. This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below into the Run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove, you can delete these files now.
    8. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    RollinWithIt Private E-2

Okee doke! I think all is well...I have a weird scratch sound coming from my speakers occasionally- almost sounds like the recycle bin sound...just a bit different.:confused
I have downloaded some of the recommended programs from the last link and hope to surf safe and fight the good fight against the crap that we get bombarded with.
Thanks so much for your time and help; I really appreciate it:wave
