I know I haven't been on here much lately, but I sure would appreciate some thoughts going out for my dad. He is in the hospital after being attacked by a cow. It pinned him against the fence and rammed his leg many many times before finally throwing him over the fence. My dad has clots in his leg and a lot of muscle and tissue damage.
    Thanks everyone.

gal, sorry for your dads accident. Quite scary! Muscle and tissue injuries are painful to say the least. These take a while to heal. Physiotherapy and prescribed exercises will work out.
Prayers and thoughts going out to your dad and yourself :)

Thank you all for the thoughts and good wishes. Dad's blood has thinned enough now so they do have him getting up a little. Until yesterday, he could not get out of bed because of the clots. He has a lot of pain and swelling, but seems to be a little better. Going to be a long process because of the severity of the damage to the muscles.
    Thanks again!

Need a little more help here guys. My mom just called and Dad is being transferred to another hospital to do testing on the pressure in his leg. There is so much swelling. A surgeon is going to look at it. There is even talk of him losing his leg.
I am leaving now to go there, but please say a little prayer for him if you can.

gal1998 - prayers going out for your dad, your mum and you. Please be strong - for both of them. I've been in this situation - and somehow parents draw/need strenght and comforting from their adult kids.

I want to thank everyone for all the support. The tests showed my Dad's leg is doing ok. No clusters stopping the blood flow. In fact, he is now at home. It will take a long time to heal, but he is home.
    Thanks again!!!!!!!

Prayers and best wishes to your dad for a full recovery and his family for a happy outcome. Hoping that he doesn't have lasting damage to his legs. Cows have been known to trample folk to death. So it could have been a lot, lot worse.

@ gatorman. Glad to see you still visiting, young 'un. Trust you are well ;)

Visited my dad again yesterday and he is progressing nicely. He goes in a whirlpool twice a week, then they take the dead skin off his leg. Because of the swelling, etc, he had what I call blisters on his leg, which started seeping out fluids. The doctor lanced them, and they are draining and new skin grows back underneath. His leg is still very swollen and all kinds of colors, but seems to be doing better. Dad is walking some with the aid of a crutch. It will take a while and hopefully no more complications.
As for the cow. My dad is 70, but still worked part-time at the local Livestock Sales Barn. (He had been involved with cattle all his life. We farmed at home and he worked out) His job was to write down the cattle and help unload from the trailers. This was a "stag" cow. The stag is a male animal that has been castrated after he was a mature bull.
As far as I know, someone is enjoying the hamburger and steaks from him, but it isn't our family....lol
Dad has decided to retire now. He has had too many close calls and I think this finally helped him decide.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts and all the concern shown here for my dad and out whole family. I have been here for a few years now. I am always amazed at the caring of people who come here. Whether it be for computer concerns or human concerns.
    Thanks again!

    Castrated bull?
No wonder he attacked.Father must have looked like the Dr. that did him.
    I would be mad too.

Oh, gal1998, that is great news! Yes, isn't this just the greatest bunch? Also, so nice to hear a positive instead of a negative , and hope your dad continues to improve.... Yes, it will take time, but I think he was extremely lucky! Thanks for the update;)

Guess that explains why they were shipping the cow off to the meat factory. Glad he's doing alright.

He might want to retire, but perhaps he should be introduced to the fun facts of miniature cattle. Or 4-H. Always great to have leaders who've spent most of their lives with the subject.

This is Dad's leg as it looked last week. Yesterday, he was back at the doctor's office after having a whirlpool treatment. They are keeping a close eye on it for infection. He has good days and bad days. Depends on if he tries to do too much.

As for him retiring, he will never fully retire, which is good. He has talked about helping with meals on wheels, etc. First, he has to heal himself.
Thanks you again everyone for the good wishes.

It's hard to keep a good man down and it's great that he still wants to do things. However, if you have too, tie him to a chair until that leg healsroflmao Then again, your father seems like a very spirited man, so maybe that tying thing may just be harder than you think:-D Send your father our best!
