Thumbnail problem in vista

Hi,

having some problems with thumbnail views in Vista.
Thumbnails are showing as the red X in some websites, but not all of them show like this, some I can see as the picture.

I've tried clearing the thumbnail cache, the "show pictures" box is ticked in the advanced options tab and as far as I'm aware, vista has all the required updates installed.

Is this a known problem? and if so, what's the solution.

Hi

This is a common issue and has been with all Windows and IE versions, and is more to do at times with 3rd party add-ons etc

Also at times you maybe missing a media addon as many sites use Flash, Java, Sliverlight etc for images so update all of those

Flash

Shockwave

Java (but run JavaRa to make sure you remove all the old versions of java as some can cause issues, may need to right click the application and run as admin)

Sliverlight (click install Windows Runtime)

Despite trying these fixes, I was still tearing my hair out with this issue.

However, I have found an excellent solution- I'm now using Firefox.

Just for fun in IE

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia

Is show pictures checked?

Yes, show pictures is checked.
