tie fighter and games

    I loved this family of games in the 90s and I thought someone here could help me out with some questions.

    1. I heard a new games in this line was coming out, any truth to that?

    2, I dont have a CD player attached to my laptop,nor do I run the apple 2e or whatever system that ran those games. I still have them on CDs, so do i need a CD player for my laptop or can i buy those games and just download them?
