    Hi,

I am testing tightVNC on the two machines on my home network.
I have installed TightVNC on both machines (each with the server and viewer ability). I am able to use the XP machine to remote into the Vista machine, but not the other way around. I double checked the computer name I was using.

What should I do to fix this problem?

    Thanks.

System: Receive internet on the phone line, have a wireless ADSL gateway (router). The desktop is connected to the router using an ethernet cable. The laptop is on wireless.
The desktop has XP and the laptop has Vista Home premium.

You probably need to check your firewall settings on the Vista machine. Make sure that tightVNC is an allowed program or allow the ports that are needed.

You may want to disable the firewall briefly to confirm that is the issue.

    Thanks Nate.

I don't have any third party firewall on the vista machine. I guess I have to check Vista's inbuilt firewall.

Also, I was trying to acces my home machines from my work but could not do that. I am assuming my employer's firewall security is not allowing me to do that.

Are there any workarounds? Is there any other way I can access my home computer from my work location?

    Thanks.
