Time for a new build Whats The latest?

Hello everyone,

Think its time to go down to frys and start another system. My current system is a Asus P5b Mother with Pentium 2.8G and 4g ram. Im looking to upgrade. What do you guys think. I kinda got out of this for a while so any opinions would be appreciated. Im not a gamer so it does not really need to be over the top. I like audio and streaming video. What would be a good motherboard processor combo? Ive got windows 7 ultimate.

The latest is in my signature but that would be way overkill for you. If you want to stick with Intel then I'd go for an
Intel Core i3-540, even has graphics on this chip with Blue Ray and HD capability.

Thanks for the reply I looked at your signature which processor and mother board are those I may be interested in going overkill as I tend to have the biggest and baddest syndrome. Like I said before I've been out of building systems for a while. So Im not up on the latest and greatest. Are you running windows7? or some hybrid OS.

The Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz is the current top dog with a socket 2011 8 core Sandy Bridge-E just around the corner with x-79 mobos. Read expensive!

EDIT: Oh, yes, I'm using W7 Ult. it's costly but I got it for free, Premium is just fine.
