Time for a new printer?

I have an approximately 5 year old Dell 926 printer. Since I print a lot of sheet music, I have printed maybe 40,000+ pages with this printer. For the last few months, the printer has often not functioned properly. The paper does not seem to "catch" on the roller(?) inside so that sometimes only half the page gets printed or the paper doesn't even make it through the printer at all.

Is it time to just get a new printer or can this be fixed in some easy way? Are there any inexpensive printers you recommend? I have a Dell Inspiron computer. I use my printer for printing documents and sheet music(far less now than in the past) and emailing pdf documents, but not for printing photographs.

    Thanks!

Have you tried a roller cleaning? There should be some maintenance options somewhere in the printer settings.

I agree this sounds like the printer needs a good professional cleaning. Rollers need to be a bit rough and sticky but over time, they really smooth out and get very slick.

That said, 40,000 copies out of a budget All-in-One is remarkable in itself, and maybe you need to retire it. Complete disassembly, cleaning and reassembly would be time consuming, and may not be cost effective.
