Watch out with those 9800s you have there. One is a SE which is a very scaled down version, and the one is only a 128 bit card.

If you can i would save a little more, and go for a 9800Pro. It is probly the best bang for the buck you can get right now. Make sure it is not a SE or 128bit version. a 256bit gives you much more performance.

If i had to pick from the cards you provided..the 9600XT is most appealing to me. ;)

Looks good, but if you look hard enough you can find the 9800Pro, for about 20 - 30 bucks more. The 9800 is a better card IMO.

Really the only difference there is the memory. Most games today will run fine with 128MB of video ram. I would have picked the 128MB version.

In fact, i got my 6800 for a little less, then the price of the 9800 256 you showed.

I just figured it might be something to think about. :)

I kinda like the Leadtek one because that one has DDR3...

Or the PNY one.... I dunno i need a tap (shove) in the right direction... I want a good one but i dont want the one thats gonna crap out in a week... do you think any of these are any good? (which would be your first, second, third and fourth prefrence?

    Hum.

I would stay away from the XFX one. I have had a horrible time with there tech support.

The PNY card is most likely the best of the ones you showed. Then the evga.

I too like the Leadtech card. Its a tough choice. Look around for some reviews on the Leadtech card. It is based off of the 6800, but it its self is not a 6800.

I would go with the Leadtek card! In fact i am going to change my order. :)

Here is a link to Leadteks site. They say there that the card has DDR3 memory, and all the other brands do not have DDR3, so im going to jump on this one. :D

Hrm.... Well i kinda actually thought about getting a 6800 but then i realized i only need a card that will handle Doom 3 and HalfLife 2 (when it comes out) I want a card that doesnt have to run all settings on minimal either...

Would the GeForce FX 5700LE be any good? or should i get the ATI GeCube 9600XT 256MB ?

Alright here are a few 9800's and i was wondering how many of these can be softmodded to the 9800XT.....

    Card 1

    Card 2

    Card 3

    ---------ALSO---------
When and If you can softmod those to XT's Does it change the 128Bit ones to 256Bit graphics?

  22. ~Pyrate~

    ~Pyrate~ MajorGeek

the only way you could do that is with the 256MB RAM version ... i've read you can do it with a 128 rev but you're more likely to mess up your card ... and it is my understanding the only way you're going to find out is when you buy the card and read what is on the RAM chips and GPU

oh and you can ONLY flash 9800pro w/ 256MB RAM cards ... 9800SE cards are not flashable at all ... that is what everyone tells me anyway
