Tired of using AVG. What's the best free virus scanner?

I've grown tired of using AVG free as my virus scanner. What is the best free virus scanner out there? What uses the least amount of CPU resources and is easy to use?

    Thanks.

Currently Avast!, Avira or MSE - depending on the competence or otherwise of the end user ;)

That's right, the netbook has MSE installed... forgot about that one. :)

    I echo satrow's advice.
If you find a computer's hardware or software doesn't like the one you chose, switch to one of the other two.

From personal experience: I have AntiVir installed on all my windows internet computers (5 partitions). One of these is a Dell Dimension 2400. I got two Dimensions 2400s to repair for my nephew (hardware and software). I installed AntiVir. One of his computers slowed to a crawl with it installed. It took minutes for the program list to appear. I removed it and the computer returned to normal. That 2400 has MS Security Essentials installed now. I didn't want to spend hours trying to figure out what AntiVir didn't like on that computer. It was easier to just remove and install a replacment.

I'd like to ask the OP, "why are you tired of AVG".... is it the FREE daily updates, or the FREE daily scans, or all the added features of 2011 or v. 9 ???
Like so many other programs, like Spybot S&D, AVG does need some Setup, before it will perform at top efficiency.

Any computer that's properly set up and tweaked for top performance will run AVG without you ever knowing that it's even running.

I'm in the computer business, and I'm forever getting calls from people with viruses or Trojans on their PC's where something other than AVG is running.
I un-install those 'other' programs, install AVG 2011 FREE, get the latest updates and proceed to find and remove malware not even seen by the 'other' programs. Norton and McAfee are by far the worse.

I would never put Avast on my old customer's PC's, because a year later it's going to demand that they re-register it. That would blow the minds of most of my OLD customers. I can't afford that, so I give them AVG 2011 FREE which requires NO input from them.

Just my own take on the subject.

Microsoft Security Essentials. I wouldn't touch AVG or Avast with a 10 foot pole.

I've had Avira on 3 different PC's with 3 different OS's and NO infections.

    I :heart Avira.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I think I'll try out Avast. Seems like the most popular one. I'm not a noob or novice in computers and programs. Just want to try a new program mostly out of curiosity. It's fun to play with new programs.

@The Shadow - Just really want to use a new program. No real complaints about AVG Free. The free version has become a bit bloated over time with settings and additions to the main virus scanning program that I don't need or use. I might even change my firewall from Zone Alarm Free to something else out of curiosity too.
