Anyone here done it? I bought a 160 gig HD last night and am going to attempt to clone the 80 gig WD drive currently in my Tivo series 2 and replace it with the 160 for more recording time. I have the MFS tools and torx screwdrivers, so should be all set. I am also hoping, and most people say it works, that the 80 gig 5400 speed being replaced with the 7200 speed, 8 meg cache drive will help the Tivo respond a bit faster.

So, anyone else here done any hacking and how did you make out?

I believe there is an entire book out there devoted to Tivo hacking. Might want to check that out.

Oh yeah, I have the page with directions on upgrading hard drive or buying ready to go replacements. I just refuse to pay for an additional hard drive when a 160 gig drive is only 100-120 in most retail boxes. I may get a book, its sort of a fun way to do some tweaking outside of desktop computers.
