to bin or not to bin?
    that is the question.
whether it is nobler to suffer
the pings and arrows of outrageous alerts?
or to sleep? to deny...perchance to clean?

so what is a bin file and how do i get gid of one?

A bin file is a "binary" file. One that has "ones and zeros". It is like an executable program. A text file has and extension .txt , say, and has only ASCII text.

A .JPG file is a picture.....
    there are many other kinds...

robster, this is all something to do with motive communications. i don't feel good about anything Ive found out about it so far, or its insistence on sending and receiving on my puter. and was wondering whether there was a way to get rid of it altogether. its in the verizon 'bin' file and the HP bin file. any suggestions? much aloha

I hesitate to say anything, because I am unfamiliar with the system files on the Windows operating system. And, I don't know how important this particular file is to your system.

EVERY file has a name. If you could post the name of the file, then even I could do a google search on it, and we could see what the file does.

Then, I would think you could simply delete it, but, you will need a more "Windows savvy" person to post if that doesn't work.

Just try to find out the file's name first. If in doubt, you want a backup so that you can restore the system to the state its in right now. (I don't know the limitations on what "System Restore" in XP can do).

Also, what is your reason for wanting to delete it?

the program it WAS in was:
    C:\Program Files\HewlettPackard\hpis\bin
    C:\Program Files\Verizon Online\SupportCenter\bin

now i cant find them, but Chorus Daemon is still in
    C:\PromramFiles\VerizonOnline\SupportCenter\vendors\verizon\www.cache\wt\default
    \private\content\resources\en and
    c:\program etc..\private\content\images
