Only buy Dell if you're getting a laptop. Dell Desktops are typically only compatible with Dell components, and those are very, very expensive. If you have the money to spend, Alienware is good if you're gaming. Otherwise, you can build a good one for much less than you'd buy new. If you're not up to building one, look for a barebones PC. These are the sites I buy parts from the most, but I don't know if they'll ship over there.

I have been using a Dell for about 5 years and have never had any problems with it. It has been mechanically sound for me.

if you don't ever plan on opening up the case, Dell is just fine. And you probably won't be able to save that much by building your own since the prices have come down considerably in the past year or two.

Same here, although I lost a HD not long ago. But this PC was a business computer so it probably has a lot of hours on it.

I'm a Dell type of guy. I have 3 Dell pc's now (a 4600, a 2400, and and old Dell that still works well) I have never had any probs with any of these. I use what internal parts I want to and whatever eternal equipment I choose. No probs. So it seems it is a personal choice. I recommend Dells as you can prob tell. Good luck on which ever one you choose.

I have a Dell laptop and two Optiplex desktop systems. All our office computers are Dell. Never experienced any problems.

I have recently recommended Dell to a friend who owns 60 restaurants, and he has subsequently replaced all his company's computers with Dell. I heard that his IT manager is very happy with it.

Probably should do some comparison shopping as well. In addition to some of the links posted, I check slickdeals and dealcatcher for rebates/coupons.
