Hey everyone, sorry if this is a double thread, couldn't see it in the search, actually I can't find help with this anywhere? :cry

Firstly some spec stuff: off the top of my head :confused
    Radeon ATI 6800 1gig
    XP os sp3
    4gig installed 3.5 recognised
    XFI-sound blast

    Okay, now the probblem.
I just treated myself to Tomb Raider ASIB steam version, loaded up the game fine, went to the opening screen options and they were invisible? I had some transparent horizontal black line that moved up and down. When it passed over where the menu should be it briefly became visible? I figured it would be a driver issue so I used (driver Sweep) then used the ATI driver update
All done... started the game.. same problem! Tried the game anyway but the tutorials were invisible, exit, turned off (anti-aliasing, screen effects, something that makes her hair look pretty) Loaded up, the tutorial and pause menu now show up, but flicker when the game is in play so sometimes I miss the onscreen instructions.. I have searched the web for days on this, tinkered with the settings, I only just managed to get the game playable!

Could someone please help me... this is such a sad day for an avid gamer

    Kind reguards

Did you turn off the Steam community overlay and the cloud? Also, go to you Steam library, right click on the game and pick properties. go to the local files tab, and verify the integrity of the game cache.

If still issues, uninstall the game, delete all local files, re-download and reinstall.

    Still issues?

I think that I might know what is going on. This sounds like the video sync is turned on either within the game or Your video card settings. If it is this will cause the issues that you are describing. Another thing to check would be which renderer the game is using. it will be either D3D or opengl. I think that you would want opengl. But the big issue would be the vsync.

Sorry I havent been back for a while, thank you for your responses...

It was V-Sync and AA settings causing the issue, I disabled both and it works fine... I don't have this problem with any other game? and I play LOTS! ha ha.

For some reason my graphics card wont run AA on Tomb Raider... I tried everything (AMD application download) went from site to site testing out settings in my (Catalyst control centre) forced this & disabled that, yet still got nothing? Everything was up to date, the only thing I havent tried is a complete re-install...

Thank you for all your help, sorry it took so long to get back..

(Fixed = disable everything that makes the game look pretty :p)
