Top 1-4 inches of monitor freaking out

The top 1-4 inches of my monitor freaks out and streches like its out of vsync. Problem is, only with 1 game does it do this, then will continue after I quit the game for up to 20 minutes. No other game will do this, no 3dtest, no nothing. Even worse, this game didnt always do this, only started recently. At first I thought my monitor was going out, but after further testing nothing else had trouble. Any ideas?

 

ahh i recall the days of Motor City online nda beta with my voodoo5500; the game didnt support 3dfx v5500/6000 nor its drivers; The middle of my screen used to warp to the top and become all drizzled and would BSD after a few mins.. try updating your drivers and see if your card is compatible with the game

 

Is it posable for a monitor to lose vsync for just one resolution?

I run everything but this one game at really high res, this one at a lower res cause its a graphics hog.

 

unless its unchecked im not aware of 'losing' vsync; vsync just limits the max framerates to whatever your monitor frequency is at...

 

I've had a similar problem with games. I had to lower my vertical refresh to 60hz. Which is no problem since I have an LCD monitor. Try lowering it to 60hz and see what happens.

 

I would try other posters suggestions. Also, try swapping monitors and see if it happens. This will be a quick way to make sure its not your monitor for sure. Also, i know this sux, but if you can try another vid card, but i dont think this is the problem. Sounds like a driver, card issue with the game.

 

Tried with another monitor, still does it. Tried manually setting hz down, still does it. Whats bad is I have 2 identicle pc's, one is mine, one for my g/f. Does this on mine, not hers. Same everything, including software and drivers at first, but now i've tried a few drivers(yes deleted old ones).
