    I heard a radio piece from the Netherlands on a cryptology conference held in Europe and it mentioned in passing this new method of grabbing private data.

    As I understand it, the computer's voltage was manipulated and this meant that secure information was not fully encrypted before being transmitted.
    It sounds like a lot of hard work, and not exactly the door to instant access, but if it's a new hack then we can expect good old human ingenuity to streamline the process in due course.
