toshiba equium wifi missing with xp?

Hi,

My specs are;

Toshiba equium T2080 1.73GHz 2GB RAM.

The machine is my uncle's, and it previously had vista installed, but was running supper slowly, due to years of spyware/adware build up. As they don't have the vista disk, i elected to install xp, as i have a legit copy from a prev machine. When i installed, the wireless chip is not showing up.

The toshiba software to locate your machine type and thus confirm drivers on won't work on the machine, and when i put the serial number into their website, it comes back saying no such product!!

Am i flogging a dead horse, and should i just go out and buy a copy of vista, or is there a driver that will work with xp?

From what I found on Google, it's probably an Atheros or Realtek wireless controller.

 

many thanks for swift reply, seems it was an atheros, should have remembered to use the vendor search, but it's a while since i have done an install :confused
