Toshiba laptop shut down by itself and now won't turn on at all, what's the problem?

The laptop is a Toshiba satellite.
I don't know what the problem is, I turned on my laptop today and before I could open the internet, my laptop shut down completely. My laptop tends to get hot quite a lot, and it does shut down by itself when it gets too hot - however my laptop wasn't hot as I'd only just turned it on! I left my laptop for a few hours, and it still isn't turning on, even with a power source.

I've looked online and I think the heatsink may be clogged as I never clean the fan part of the laptop, does anyone have any other suggestions or advice?

Take the back off of it and clean out all of the gunk.
