It sounds as if you have a poor battery connection. This could be expensive to replace if it turns out to be the motherboard.

Is the laptop still under warranty?

Do you have a business like "Batteries Plus" in your area? Here in Savannah that's what it's called. They would test the battery for you free. That's what I'd have done to start off with. Good luck.

    Hi Hall,

I have an old IBM Thinkpad with the same problem. It is caused by the battery that has about 2 dead cells. It always charges to 100% immediately but acts the same way as yours. Have seen many other laptops with same problem. This one reads about 6.5 volts instead of proper 9.6 on a digital voltmeter.

    Good luck,
    Jim
