Toshiba satellite L450D-128 "BSOD"

    Trying to fix for a friend
    Toshiba satellite L450D-128
    Win 7 32bit

    BSOD with cursor can't repair can't restore , to enable startup repair , i have to change BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility but it has been running longer than Mo Farah
    Is the only way, to unsolder cmos battery, and resolder, or can someone help !!!!!!!

    Any suggestions of repairing by going to start then system restore and i will scream !

    and the BSOD says what and has what alphanumeric string in the first position?
    Could be you are trying to restore to a hard drive that isn't working but we won't know that until you give us the BSOD info.

    Sorry for taking time to answer been really busy !

    A real big thankyou plodr, but i have no alphanumeric string in the first position, it is just a BlackScreenOfDeath with a white moveable cursor !! :confused:confused
    As i said have changed BIOS settings, which i have now changed back, to, AHCI on the SATA Controller Mode
    and am now able to run startup repair, BUT, ran it forever now but to no "avail"
    Tried everything in the book as us brits say, but still screamin at the piece of junk ! :(:confused

    You'll need someone else to step in. A black screen with a white cursor is not a BSOD (blue screen of death). It is an entirely different type event. Explorer.exe is not loading (no desktop showing)

    Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?
    Try F8 and see if you get Advanced Boot Options.
