If this is in the wrong forum, please move. I thought BIOS would be considered software.

Title pretty much says it. Toshiba Satellite C675-S7103 bought brand new from Best Buy almost 2 years ago, it worked great and ran great til about 4 months ago the hard drive went out on me. Just got the replacement in for Christmas, popped it in, and since the only other comp in the house has a bad burner I had to do a USB/SD card setup. I have done this, (on this laptop and many others) many times before and it's always worked smooth. Format the iso, copy the setup yadayadayada. However with the new hard drive in, it is not letting me boot from the USB. I have the option to boot from the USB, but it lists nothing. I can hit F12 on startup and I can see a blank field next to USB: but in the BIOS, USB is not even listed. In my other laptop, it reads as a bootable flash drive but apparently its missing something in this one. Ive got nothing else plugged into it, no cd in the drive, and burning a recovery disk is not an option because as stated my burner is no good and fails instantly. If it helps, the HDD is brand new and completely blank ATM. Any help is appreciated, here are the specs

Did you replace the laptop, or just the hard drive? It is possible that the USB was erased, or overwritten. If your existing unit still has a working DVD drive, why not just use the Windows 7 Recovery disc that you made, when you got your unit, or did you not make one?

Also, go into the bios, not just press f12, to check the boot settings for that machine you are working on.

I thought maybe the USB was erased so I copied the setup again and still nothing, in the BIOS it doesn't even have USB in the boot order. Boot speed is set to normal. And I did make a Windows recovery disc but I moved recently and couldn't find it. I only replaced the hard drive, everything else works great.

Not every laptop can boot from USB, this one I'm using right now can't. Have you ever before been able to boot from USB?

Yes I have before when I installed Windows 8, then didn't like it (lacking touchscreen) so I installed Windows 7 back both times using USB. I just went and bought a external DVD burner to make a recovery disk on my other comp so I'm gonna try that and let you guys know.
