Total crash, little color, no sound, device manager lists duplicates all over

HEEEEELLLLPPPP.
Computer crashed. lost everything, long story short, reformatted hardrive and reinstalled windows 98...still no sound, only have 16 colors functional (option in properties is 2 or 16 colors). keeps finding new hardware that is already installed, like keyboard,mouse,motherboards,pci stuff etc.... Have no idea where to start now. don't know if i really damaged it or what. need some direction to go in. it's an older e machine model 600is-serial number BZ109BA06573.

 

Ok, i got just about all of it working. went to intel and installed chipset utilities and some driver. the only problem now is i have no sound. I tried 3 different exe driver files from intel, but it will not let me use them. keeps saying something about must read txt file and check that it has been read. but it does not give me a place to do this. the application comes up in dos mode when you try to run it. any ideas, or know where i can find a driver file for the 810 chipset?
