wow! i remember seeing one when i was young the moon was gigantic and this surreal orange color ... or am i confused and that is was just the light distorting the size and color of the moon?

The only light that will illuminate the moon will be coming through the earth's sunset and sunrises, so it will appear orange. Just in time for halloween, a giant pumpkin in the sky.

the moon was HUGE and full last night, and there was an eclipse? And I missed it? DAMNIT!!!

Well, i guess around 9 a fog rolled in so thick you couldnt see across the street, so ida missed it anyway... but it was a huge moon last night. so pretty...

The eclipse is tonight. This mornings moon was creepy down here. Full with lots of clouds passing by...like you see in horror movies.

Yuppers. No eclipse down here. It has been a very good year for other planetary phenomena, however. Mercury, Venus, Mars and even Mercury have had some good viewings in Aust.

Best for about the last 35 years, so the boffins tell us.

It's going to be great up here in Alberta. All the fog is burnt off from this morning and clear skies are called for tonight so it's going to be a spectacular sight. (I hope) My son's birthday is Halloween day so I'll tell him it's a special birthday present just for him *chuckles* He'll love it! hehehe

My other son is into Wicca(kinda) so apparently  it has special meaning to him. He's 16 and experimenting with different ideas and religions etc. Thank gawd he's not into drugs and stuff. Just piercings and dying his hair blue, or red, or pink, or black or any combination thereof. LOL

Hope everyone has a chance to go out and see the eclipse tonight. I'm going to make a night of it for the kids and myself. Hot chocolate, blankets, and mother nature! Gotta love it!!

Looked beautiful. Went out on the Fire escape with Eric's binoculars and took a look. Pretty and orange. :)

Nothing but clouds here. Oh well, it will come around again in a few years.

We had a perfect view last night. There was just enough clouds out to give an eery glow extending out from the edge of the moon. It looked so cool. I really need to get my camera fixed. :(
