    Hello Guys,

I have just taken delivery of a new laptop.

It’s rather a bling machine with lots of unnecessary bells and whistles.

It has a touch sensitive volume control at the back of the keyboard.

Very nice – but the darn thing keeps adjusting itself with no apparent cause. Every time it does it it bleeps – but worse is the fact that every time it does it it interferes with the input from the keyboard – which means I loose anything from 1 to 6 characters which in turn takes a lot of time to correct.

I realise that the control could be causing the problem or that this is the outward sign of something else.

The supplier is at a loss to explain – and I can’t afford the time to send it back for testing.

    Any thoughts?

The computer is a CLEVO X8100 with a Kobalt Label

    Any suggestions will be tried.

    Greetings, JamesP.

You might try reloading the touchpad drivers. For reference, other Win 7 drivers are listed here.

Are there no controls for the device? Maybe buried in some obscure Control Panel applet?

    Hello Caliban

Sorry it took so log to say thanks for your input.

This computer came with two faults – the touch controls and a faulty shift key on the keyboard. The manufacturer supplied me with a new keyboard to fit myself. This involved removing the touch panel that was attached with a small plug to the motherboard.

After completing the installation, the touch panel worked OK.

So it was the faulty keyboard causing the problem or it was a loose connection – I will probably never know which

    So now all is well.

    Thanks again
