    Hello all!

Hoping that someone may be able to help with this issue. Started a few weeks ago while watching a show online (not sure if this was the actual cause; can't think of anything else out of the ordinary that I was doing at the time). After this, I started to receive alerts from my antivirus software (I use Avira) about a virus called TR/ATRAPS.Gen2 . Did some research on it and landed here. Went through the "Read and Run Me First" procedure a little over a week ago and I thought I had cured the issue. Sadly not. Still getting alerts about this pain in the rear virus. Attached are the logs from all of the programs after I re-ran the "Run Me First" procedure. Any help on dealing with and removing this is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [HJ INPROC][ZeroAccess] HKCR\[...]\InprocServer32 : (C:\$RECYCLE.BIN\S-1-5-21-2084391526-2336797556-107137592-1001\$111c637fcdd20cd4b618558e87a08199\n) [-] -> FOUND

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

Now click the Files/folders tab and locate these detections:

Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
Do not reboot your computer yet.

Now empty out your recycle bin!!

Reboot and rescan with both RogueKiller and Hitman and attach the those new logs as well.

Tell me how things are running now.

First off I want to thank you for your time helping me out with this issue. Attached are the new logs per your post. I'm not sure, but I think I may have messed up the first step with the RogueKiller. I'm sure you will be able to tell. Turned on the antivirus and havent had any alerts yet; but I will let you know if something comes up.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: Vuze Remote Toolbar - {ba14329e-9550-4989-b3f2-9732e92d17cc} - C:\Program Files (x86)\Vuze_Remote\prxtbVuze.dll
    O2 - BHO: Conduit Engine - {30F9B915-B755-4826-820B-08FBA6BD249D} - C:\Program Files (x86)\ConduitEngine\prxConduitEngine.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)

    O3 - Toolbar: Conduit Engine - {30F9B915-B755-4826-820B-08FBA6BD249D} - C:\Program Files (x86)\ConduitEngine\prxConduitEngine.dll

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now uninstall the below programs. If you do not see them or they refuse to uninstall, just continue on.
    Avira Free Antivirus
    Conduit Engine
    Java Auto Updater
    Java(TM) 6 Update 22
    Java(TM) 6 Update 31
    Vuze Remote Toolbar

Now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Services
    McShield
    McSysmon)

    :Files
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Ad-Aware Antivirus
    C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee
    C:\Users\Josh\AppData\Local\Temp\*.*

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • the JRT.TXTlog
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Here are the logs requested from the last post. I wasn't able to uninstall these things (couldn't find the java auto updater)

    Conduit Engine
    Java Auto Updater

Everything else was uninstalled. As per the antivirus, should I leave that uninstalled until this process is complete? And what would you recommend that I use for an antivirus program (preferably free) if the Avira program isn't worth it?

    Thanks!

Avira is fine. I was just having you uninstall it because there were signs of multiple antivirus programs and we need to get them cleaned up properly without interference. I had a typo in my last fix with the McSysmon) service from McAfee. It should not have had the closing parenthesis.

Now please click Start, and type cmd.exe into the search box.
    • You should see a cmd.exe black icon appear in the Programs area of the Start Menu.
    • Right click on cmd.exe and select Run As Administrator.
    • A command prompt window will open.
    • Enter the below commands in this window. Do both commands even if you receive an error on the first. Follow each by the enter key. Note there are spaces after the sc and after the stop and after the delete.

      sc stop McSysmon
      sc delete McSysmon

How are things working? If everything is okay, you can reinstall Avira now. See the below link:

    Avira AntiVirus

Ok, so I ran the command prompt and everything went as planned. Thanks for the advice on the antivirus program. I reinstalled avira and it went through a quickscan which didn't turn up anything. Should I run it through a full scan? Or what would be the next step?

You're welcome. Complete all of the below before running anymore scans.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the help I received over the past week or so! I appreciate it greatly because you saved me a bundle of money to top it all off! I have had things running for the past few days and so far (knock on wood) I haven't had any issues. Once again, thanks!!
