I don't know a whole lot about a computers but i recently took mine in to get it fixed and when i got it back i found a trojan horse virus and some kind of internet activity tracking spyware on my computer. is it possible the computer technician installed these things?...i've gotten a strange message saying that my internet activity is being tracked and recorded. I also think there may have been some porn on the hard drive before i took it in to get fixed and maybe that has something to do with it.
im only 17 and i dont know a whole lot about this type of stuff. if anyone has had this experience or can offer advice it would be greatly appreciated.

    BigB,

I shall hunt down some info for you on securing your computer, but I will need to know your operating system mate.

Backweb, as installed by F-secure is not spyware (anyone who does not believe me, run a packet sniffer on it while updating).

I shall also hunt down some programs for you if you like. In the mean time, listen to whatever advice is given........but do NOT get rid of backweb yet ;) .

    Regards,
    Jade.

    xflat,

For starters, we do not even know if BigB has uninstalled F-secure - not good seeing he just installed Avast....could cause more problems. Also, you simply do not know how he got Backweb - certainly he got it from F-secure, wich is safe. But what if he got it from other software/hardware?

Now, if he did get it from F-Secure, he could have simply uninstalled it, ran SpyBot S&D to _completely_ get rid of it (which would have to be done on restart), then re-installed F-Secure choosing not to install the BackWeb Client which normally handles the updates. F-Secure will still be able to update correctly when installing this way ;) .

BigB, you really should go to the link in my former post, as they will show you how to completely diagnose/fix your problems. I _promise_ you!

    Regards,
    Jade.

Note: There is nothing wrong with getting help here mate, but some places handles certain problems much better IMO :D .

I certainly hope he does make a post over there, and then replies back here to keep us all up to date with his progress.
