I have a great church program on VHS tape and would like to transfer it to DVD. Is there a way to accomplish this from a Sony VCR through my computer (XP Home)? Or is there a better method? (my budget is very tight).
    Thanks - Cody

An XP Media Center PC could do it unaided, but XP Home can't I'm afraid. You would need to add both hardware and software, something like -

If you want to look further into this then be sure that whatever you are looking at can accept analogue inputs, as most TV adapters do digital only.

I just did this not to long ago, I purchased this piece. Newegg Link. It worked as advertised. Pretty simple, plug the output from the VCR into this piece and then this into the USB port of your computer. Then cue up the tape and begin capturing with the software provided.
