I just recently purchased a laptop, I would like to install microsoft office 07 on it. I already have microsoft office 07 installed on my desktop pc. How can I transfer it to my laptop? I have an external hard drive, is there any way that I can put it on there and then transfer it to my laptop?

You don't actually transfer it. What you do is uninstall it from the desktop and install it on the laptop. When something is installed, there are references in your registry about the product and trying to move it isn't worth the time in case you muck it up. Just don't forget to backup any templates or similar that you created.

If you have the Retail version, you can have it on your desktop and your laptop, so it wouldn't be necessary to remove it from your desktop unless you want to. You need section 2 in whichever licence type you have. Retail is where you bought it from the shop in a box, OEM is where it came installed on the computer (and I don't think you are allowed to put it onto a different machine, but if someone who knows can confirm or refute that, please? or that might be in the licence and I missed it) and Media-less will doubtlessly be where you downloaded it and then bought a licence.
