I am trying, or better yet wanting to. transferr files,cd's etc I have saved from my old system (XP) to my new. the old system is gone, I have installed the virtual pc/xp mode on my 7 system but cannot find a way to transfer files. even open cd's/photos that werre saved in the old xp. I've tried the easy downloader, but it dosent seem to offer transferring files WITHIN the same pc. from XP mode to wind 7 . any ideas?
Thanx in advance for the help

First, we need a better description of what's going on.... do you have the files burned to CDs? Do you have programs that were installed on the XP system and you're trying to run them on the Win7 system? If so, how? From CDs? From a 2nd or external hard drive? Also, I'm not sure what the "easy downloader" is, but simply moving files from one hard drive/CD to another location is normally not a problem. Transferring files from a 2nd (or external) hard drive or from a CD/DVD is as simple as right clicking on the item to be transferred, selecting "Copy" then browse to the location where you want the item to end up, then right click and select "Paste". If this isn't working, or I'm W A Y off base, then please clearly explain your problem.

    Thanx for the reply.
I'll try to be more through. I have one machine, with windows 7. I have also the XP or virtual machine installed. what I am havinbg problems with is opening or downloading photos that I have saved from when I had an older machine with XP. the photos are burnt on a cd. wds 7 wont even try to open these. in XP mode they open right up. cool. the cd is part of the machine, no external drives. however I need to bring these photos or files into my 7 storage. right clicking pretty much just offers you option to keep them within XP, no option to send them over to 7. it's like I have 2 separate PC's within the same box and cannot get photos from one to another. I read somewhere else, where It was described that I needed to make a "pathway" as to when I would right click, the option for wds 7 would be an option. but the information provided, did not really get you beyond the adding the pathway or create a shortcut. hope this helps.
    Thanx

I don't know if this will help because I'm anything but a geek. I need to do something to help MG for all the help they've given me.

I recently had an XP give me problems (it was old) and I bought one with Vista installed. I couldn't transfer files via CD either. I tried it with a USB stick and it worked fine. (Just glad my XP could still respond and download to the stick.)

    I hope this helps.
